Singur Dam, also known as the M Bhaga Reddy Singoor Project, is a major irrigation and drinking water reservoir situated across the Manjeera River near Singooru village in Sangareddy district, Telangana. Completed in 1998, this earthen and gravity dam stretches 7.5 kilometers in length and stands 33 meters tall, with a live storage capacity of about 30 TMC feet. The dam plays a vital role in supplying drinking water to Hyderabad and Secunderabad, supporting irrigation in the region, and generating hydroelectric power. Beyond its functional importance, Singur Dam is a haven for nature lovers, as its reservoir is home to hundreds of mugger crocodiles and attracts migratory birds, making it a wildlife sanctuary. Sri Kethaki Sangameshwara Swamy Temple is a famous and sacred temple located in Jharasangam village near Zaheerabad, Sangareddy district, Telangana. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is known for its unique tradition of offering Kethaki flowers, which are generally not used in Shiva worship. According to legend, King Kupendra, suffering from a skin disease, was guided in a dream to this place. After bathing in the holy waters of the Kethaki forest, he was cured. Grateful, he built the temple and established the sacred pond, known as Ashta Theertha Amrutha Gundam. The pond is believed to contain the waters of eight holy rivers, making it a spiritual and healing site. The temple attracts large numbers of devotees, especially during Maha Shivaratri, Ugadi, and Kartika Purnima. Surrounded by serene nature, the temple is open daily and offers peace and spiritual solace to visitors from Telangana and neighboring states.
